A sad day...

Ok, when I got to work, I told my coworker how much I loved his bike.  He told me he talked to his buddy, Nomco, and said he's out of IRO Mark V's.  Apparently he is selling more than Tony at IRO is and is getting the run around, but for me to come to his shop and see what he's gots.

Crap.

What about my all black stealth bomber?  Is it a lost dream?  I like the orange Angus he has but it's not drilled for brakes and I'm not a fixie nut [yet].

Well, I'll let you know what I find.

Test Ride

I took my coworkers Iro out for a test ride this evening. It rides great, although I need a longer seatpost. I took it to my friend Bob's house to talk about mountain biking then I had to run over my other buddies house, Josh to talk about wedding plans for our friend Matt. Wow, a lot of friends in that paragraph!

Anyway it was great. As I was leaving Bob's house, I called Matt & Josh and told them I was riding my bike and asked how long they thought it would take. They estimated over 45 minutes and I thought it sounded right but I would try my best.

Well, I got there in 22 minutes. One gear. Iro is right; one gear is really all you need. I got some serious speed and there were no hills that I had to stop on. I just stood up and mashed.

So, here is a map from Google Maps. It's just a screen cap.

Bike for a friend.

A buddy of mine had to get rid of his old road bike but after seeing how interested I am in getting my Iro built, he was looking around for a good singlespeed himself.

I found one I knew he would like though, the Jamis Sonik.  The only thing is, is that it's brand new and not cheap!  We'll find him something similar though, any ideas?

Jump for Jamis.

Macaframa SF Track Bike Promo

Awesome promo video. These guys can do some pretty sweet stuff.

Don't call me 5...

Here is the IRO Mark V frame.  Isn't it gorgeous!?

Some Iro Pics

I thought I'd post some pics that got me motivated.  I love these black Iro's!  Must be something about the frame, not being overly thick but certainly not thin.  Love it!

Specialized Hardrock SS Project - Chapter 1

Since I bought a new mountain bike, a 2006 Specialized Epic rim, I decided mess around with my old bike, the 2003 Hardrock.

Now, it's not worth much and I really didn't want to sell it or give it away. This was my first [real] bike ever! The gearing was acting up and I could never get it tweaked right and that was my main reason to convert it to a single speed.

I bought the kit and other parts on Nashbar.com and PricePoint.com. I'll post specifics soon.

It was pretty much a learning experience. It's not nearly done yet and I have some ideas for a re-paint.

I need to have my LBS do some work on the hubs as they aren't spinning very freely (I think I dried them out by accident) and some other little stuff. Mostly just get it rideable for a friend of mine to commute less than a mile to school.

I'll let you know as soon as its fully running.

Iro Mark V Project - Chapter 1

A coworker today rode in on his Iro Mark V. He has a lot of other steeds in his stable but this is the one that just grabbed my attention. I didn't have my camera but I'll take a picture of it as soon as I can.

It's almost all black, super stealthy.

I need one.

So, I'm building one up with some help of my friend. He has a buddy that sells Iro frames.

I'm thinking that I'm going to make it an all black stealth bomber. My buddy has Velocity Deep V wheels with silver spokes but I want black. Also, I'm on more of a budget so I'm leaning towards the Formula Deep V Weinman rims that are all black.

Ooooohhh I can't wait!

I'll keep you posted. This is all got for you right now though.

First Post!

Details on an Iro Mark V coming soon!
